A mystical stranger arrives to help a woman trying to rebuild her life with her two children in the aftermath of domestic abuse, but this Mary Poppins has teeth.

 

After the death of her estranged mother, Susan moves her children, Jonas

and Abigale, into the vacant family home-a place heavy with painful

memories. Abigale, still haunted by the absence of her father, doesn't fully

understand the trauma shadowing her past and threatening her future.

Struggling to fit in at her new school, she and her mother are caught in a

constant clash, neither one able to heal the fractures between them.

 

But when the mysterious Mr. Mortimer arrives, an enigmatic figure cloaked

in old-world charm and a cryptic wisdom, things begin to shift. His presence

stirs something in Susan, while unnerving and fascinating the children. Susan

faces the looming threat of her abusive ex-husband, a relentless real estate

agent, and the struggle to protect her children, while Abigale comes of age

finding herself amid the looming realization of her own past and danger

therein.
